Liver Cleansing Diet

The Liver Cleansing Diet will change your life!

Our liver is responsible for metabolizing alcohol and breaking down foods with a high fat content (as well as a multitude of other things). By drinking alcohol, or foods that aren’t particularly good for us, we are putting a strain on our livers. As time goes on, these toxins build up, and our liver becomes sluggish and slows down. As your liver’s efficiency begins to drop, you will begin to put on weight, feel constantly tired, and put on weight because of the inefficiency of your metabolism.

A Liver Cleansing Diet will flush these toxins from your body. By doing so, your liver gets a much needed break, so it can focus on repairing itself. Your immune system will improve and you will feel much more energized.

Before you start a Liver Cleansing Diet, it is always a good idea to see your doctor. They can ensure that you body is able to take the mass purging of toxins which can leave you feeling rather unwell at the start.

Things to avoid while on a Liver Cleansing Diet:

Whilst you are on a Liver Cleansing Diet, it is very important that you avoid any substances that put a strain on your liver. Avoid taking any antibiotics, however, obviously consult your doctor before stopping any current treatment. Stay away from junk food like the plague as these foods will put a strain on your liver, and reduce the effectiveness of your Liver Cleansing Diet.

Anything that is overly processed, high in fat or sugar, should be avoided. Snacks, chocolate, and other junk food should not be consumed during a Liver Cleansing Diet. Also, do not drink any fizzy soft drinks, or any drinks that are high in refined white sugar.

Do not drink alcohol or coffee while on a liver cleansing diet.

The start of a Liver Cleansing Diet:

The first 3 days of your diet should be a liquid only fruit and vegetable fast. During this time, you should consume only fresh water, fruit juices and raw vegetable juice. When you begin to feel hungry, you may have a raw salad.

After a few days, you can slowly introduce more whole foods into your diet. These should be made up of whole, raw fruits and vegetables and fresh deep ocean fish. Do not buy farmed fish as these are high in mercury which is disastrous to your liver.

Key Things to Remember while on a Liver Cleansing Diet:

Always, always keep up your water intake. Your liver will be pumping the accumulated toxins into your body for excretion and it is imperative you drink enough water to flush these out. For the same reason, you should be taking a fiber supplement. Your intestines will also have a vast amount of toxins pumped through them, so having enough fiber ensures that these toxins are quickly purged.
